All You Need to Know About Miniature Paintings

The stunningly accurate, captivating visual accounts are hand painted on miniature canvases. These were art styles that the Mughal emperors brought to India and were essentially a way for them to preserve history. This art was carried forward in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan around the sixteenth century. The streets were lined with artisans as the kings and queens travelled in spectacular fashion with ornately decorated elephants, horses, and camels, dancers, and musicians in their royal entourage. The artists would sketch out every aspect of this episode, which they would subsequently develop into intricate miniature paintings. The artists would depict the entire scene in all its beauty on a small canvas for the king to keep as a memory. The details of the occurrences would then be documented in this manner on ivory, silk, or paper. The organically created pigments are applied with fine brushes containing bristles made of fine squirrel hair, giving the artist the maximum level of accuracy.
